Giraffes and misc :)

In case you're wondering why there's giraffes all over this blog:

I love giraffes. They are my favorite. No idea why, exactly. But they're just amazing. I even have a giraffe tattooed on my calf muscle (see pic). They're just weird, clumsy animals and they remind me of the (tall and weird) teenager I used to be. I imagine that they, just as I used to -and still do, now I think of it-, trip over their own feet all the time.

Anyways, giraffes are cool. They make me happy! :)

Also, I am quite obsessed by (life in) prisons, Sherlock Holmes and rollercoasters. Why? I have no idea.

I read a lot about prisons, watch shows and movies about them. My very favorite is (even though I watched it over 20 times and I know every line in it, by now) The Shawshank Redemption. Everything about that movie -and the book- is just perfect. The characters, the music, the over all 'dusty' look, the beautiful camera angles and the story itself. And that final scene breaks me, every time.

Another thing about prisons is that I feel like a strange kind of connection to people who are locked up. They have to stick to rules that are not their own and they view the outside world from a distance. I sometimes feel like that, like I have to 'walk in line' and live by the rules of an invisible prison warden.

Same with Sherlock. He's great, both in the classic novels as in the Cumberbatch-version. I like how he's different from other people, very smart and a bit weird. But still, he is the best at what he does. The only thing that annoys the living crap out of me, is that I do not understand how he solves the crimes. I love seeing him do it, though.

And rollercoasters. Oh gosh, how I would love to have a coaster in my back yard. Because having to go to a busy theme park (and then lining up for an hour per ride) is way too much for me. I get over stimulated by the travel itself, so I'm worn out before I even get into the park. But I have a decent alternative: I play RollerCoaster Tycoon 2. I have been since it came out in 2002. I tried RCT3 as well, but that just 'did not look right'.

:D
